HELLO!

The fact that you’re on this site means you probably understand it when I say that narcissists can cause you to leave your sanity behind, as you fall into the dazzling kaleidoscope of their conflicting behaviours and words. That’s why I thought ‘Sanity Saved’ seemed an apt name for my course.

I started to research narcissism and narcissistic abuse after have been spun around and around and inside out and back to front, myself. I eventually reached the point where I craved the experience of simple, boring, precious sanity.

You’ve probably learnt that narcissistic behaviours follow a pattern, and that these abusers mirror each other. And as it did me, just that knowledge has probably already made you think 'hmmm. Maybe there's a chance that these horrible experiences haven't actually happened because I deserved them...' I created my YouTube channel to try to help fellow survivors to cover that base.

Now, you’re ready for more progress. It’s time to examine the behind the scenes goings on that lead to you doubting yourself, once and for all. Let's get you to a place where something remarkable happens, where you realize you can honour yourself and protect yourself so well, that you never have to experience another kaleidoscope again.

Let's put your feet onto solid ground and give you the firm boundaries you've always been entitled to, so that your emotions are safely guarded by your ability to think calmly and logically. That'll be Sanity Saved!

Let’s begin.

'I've taken Zoe's course and it's been a game changer for me. I no longer blame myself for someone else's abusive behaviour, I've learned to set and maintain boundaries with people in my life, I'm no longer scared of being taken advantage of because of it, and I use the techniques for feeling and then regulating my emotions so it no longer feels like I get overwhelmed by them (Thank you Zoe!)...it's making life so much easier and calmer than expected. So sign up if you can!'

'I am really enjoying how you are taking us through a CBT technique but then taking it further and deeper to engage our emotions. [It] helps us to regulate and understand our behaviours and actions better. I think you are doing something pretty special and unique - it is really impressive. I think you're onto something that I haven't seen other practitioners addressing. This is very empowering for recovery from specifically narcissistic abuse and CPTSD.'

'The course has made me feel more decisive and I am procrastinating less. I am more willing to take chances and 'forgive' myself for making mistakes or for not being 'perfect'. I feel less guilty about saying 'no' or not responding to people's demands of me. I take things less personally, when people are strange around me, I'm more likely to see it as their issue, rather than blame myself for their behaviour.'

'I have been practicing the Processing Pain Exercise, that Zoe taught us in the course, for the last month and even using the exercise to help my school aged children process their pain, including anxiety. Everyone in the family is benefitting from my having done Zoe's course - I am much calmer lately, being able to process my painful emotions now and not being afraid of them or reactive, and my children are doing the same. This has really had a major impact on our little family unit. I can't thank Zoe enough for this wonderful tool.'

You will get out of this course what you invest many times over. Do the homework assignments and you will triple your positive experience.

I like it that you don't have to keep repeating something mindlessly for it to sink in, but instead, tie it to emotions that give it a sense of tangibility.

Sometimes it's really easy to get lost in thoughts, especially when feelings are involved. I think it's really useful to have tools that break down feelings and can separate what others perceive and say about us, down to the real truth.

I have felt guilty and tried to ignore it. Your methodology helps a lot here, as it gives structure down to the smallest detail. It encourages me to give room to my feelings, defend me against wrong judgements and analyse situations completely.

'I found Zoe's course incredibly educational and inspiring. I've found a few excellent psychiatrists and therapists. By mid-life, I thought I had exhausted all possible ways to process my trauma. However, Zoe's course taught me new skills to heal from my past trauma that had never occurred to me, nor that I had come across anywhere else. Zoe has the unique combination of vast education, experience, and empathy that brought her course to life.'

#Sanity Saved Course on Healing From Narcissistic Abuse

What to expect

Beginner / 12 months

This course gives you tools to recover and heal from narcissistic abuse, covering everything from why abuse makes you think and feel as you do to practical examples every class, showing you exactly how to make the changes you need to.

You'll get an in-depth understanding of what your road blocks are and step by step instructions on how to work on each of them. The course is geared towards using the past to identify issues, with a focus on the present and achievable goals.

Some participants like to practice the exercises with their therapist, and others feel ready to be their own therapist straight away. Everyone moves at a different pace and this course is a great for anyone who wants a solid understanding of what they need to work on and how to do it.

To take this course, you need to be at a level of healing that enables you to be ready to hear about experiences other group members have had, given that these may have been traumatic for them, and may remind you of your own traumatic experiences.

While this course is solution focussed, and geared towards using our emotions to strengthen us, painful thoughts and feelings are likely to resurface at times, in the process. I strongly advise ensuring you are well supported while doing this course and recommend seeing a therapist simultaneously, should you need additional support for your mental well being.

Once you've completed the 12 months, you'll have a solid understanding of what exactly gets in your way, and plenty of hands-on exercises to do, to exercise your mind 'muscles' and rid yourself of negative thinking and feeling habits. Deep changes in our mindsets can happen surprisingly quickly!

The exercise on core beliefs in the courtroom, excellent, and some lightbulbs. I've always known that affirmations don't work for me. Thank you, this will make a huge difference for me.

Absolutely everything is opening worlds to me and I find your pacing and reflection really harmonious, the way you pause to consider, yet you are always focussed on the group, it really holds the group energy in a unified field where we're all connected and able to benefit from someone else's processing, much more for instance than listening to other people sharing in a co-dependency zoom group.

I have become more perceptive of other people's boundaries. I have stopped mentally beating myself up over my everyday choices and the consequences of the choices I made years ago that used to plague me.

I have stopped thinking that there is something wrong with me. My thinking patterns have become much more flexible and open to alternative viewpoints and solutions.

Zoe is as empathetic and compassionate in person as she is on YouTube. She had an exercise for each class that we prepared in advance and worked through during the next session. Some were daunting but within the session turned out to be really powerful. Even if I felt I hadn't prepared for the exercise the examples from other participants were beautiful discoveries that I will always remember. The exercises really did change the way I can now problem-solve dilemmas with other people in my life.

About your course facilitator

Hello, I'm Zoë! You may have found me through my YouTube channel, 'Live Abuse Free'. I've run the channel since 2018, and have been working specifically with people who've experienced narcissistic abuse for five years.

Before that, I completed a BSc Honours degree in Psychology, at the University of Wales, Bangor, and two post graduate diplomas in Counselling Psychology and Integrative counselling, at London Metropolitan University and Surrey University. I'm currently studying a masters degree in psychology and the neuroscience of mental health, at Kings College London.

I have given psychological therapy to people experiencing depression, anxiety, and bereavement, as well as to children with autism, and to people experiencing sexual dysfunction after a sex change. I have also run therapy groups with, (and given one to one therapy to), people with brain injuries.

Before becoming a therapist, I volunteered as a support worker with people with cerebral palsy and after that, with children with HIV. It's been an honour to work with people who face scary and lonely challenges head on. Their pain and their bravery and determination tend to be accompanied by humility and authenticity. My  admiration for these traits has never felt stronger than it has now, working with the survivors of narcissistic abuse.

My own experiences of this traumatic bullying led me to research the subject avidly for 15 years. Each exercise on this course has been developed through my work with one to one clients which has enabled me to carefully hone it to ensure its effectiveness. It's so exciting to feel confident that these exercises really can make a big difference.

So far, I have run seven courses, and used feedback from each to improve the next. This will be the first course I've run for a larger number of people, as they were previously created for small groups of ten to twelve people. It's been an incredible experience to watch people's mindset shift drastically after just 12 classes.

These new courses are running to ensure the challenge of financing the more expensive small courses, isn't an obstacle to those who have so far wanted to take part and been unable to. I may continue to run the small group courses in the future, but in the mean time, I'm really looking forward to this new framework. You will be paying a quarter of the price, so you'll have more classmates, but you'll also cover more ground, now that I'm going to be running double the content. I'm pleased to be able to spend longer with you and to ensure we cover all of the ground we need to for you to have the tools necessary for lasting change. And I can't wait to see that happen for you! :)

FAQs

  • Will this course provide the same support therapy does?

No, there will be no one to one time with me unless you volunteer to do an exercise with me and then we will work together for the duration of the exercise only.

So please consider any therapeutic support you might need throughout the course, for when difficult thoughts and memories may present themselves to you.

  • Is there homework?

Yes. during each class, I will demonstrate an exercise with a volunteer. You will then be given that exercise to do yourself for homework. It's the homeworks that are going to make all of the difference to you. You'll have step by step written instructions to follow as well as the recording from the class. You can ask for help with anything you're unsure about, from any of the weeks, during the Q and As.

  • How many hours per week will I need to allocate?

It will depend on the week.  Some exercises can be incorporated into your day so you don't need to put additional time aside. Others will take more time. I would recommend setting aside 20 minutes per day.

All of the live zoom classes will be recorded and you'll have access to them during the course.

  • Is the course interactive?

The course can be as interactive as you want it to be. You can choose to volunteer to do an exercise with me but you don't have to. You can use the live chat to ask questions in the Q and As or just listen to me answer other people's questions.

Each live class will be an hour and a half long. After this there will be a half hour break, followed by a half hour Q and A.

I have gained confidence and self-trust to know that I'm not the issue. If my gut is telling me that something is wrong-I LISTEN. A weight has been lifted from my life!

'I no longer feel guilty for defending myself against people who are trying to put me down. I can now identify when someone's intent is to make me feel small and I now feel a greater ability to protect myself from those who are deliberately trying to verbally attack me. I've noticed that my social anxiety has significantly decreased and as a result, I keep choosing situations that will move my life forward. Thanks again, Zoe. 'I had many "aha" moments during Zoe's course as I learned novel ways to understand myself, and my reactions and behaviors, and then how to change them for the better. Being a victim and survivor of narcissistic abuse inherently isolates us not only from ourselves, but from the world around us. Zoe's course showed me that there are many others out there just like me, and that has provided a healing in and of itself. I strongly recommend this course to any person who has suffered narcissistic abuse, or to anyone who cares, personally or professionally, about the victims and survivors of this type of abuse.'

'It's been very different to painful sessions of talking and analyzing things with a therapist, and then going back home chewing again and again destructive thoughts. I now have a very useful bunch of tools to work with.

You were focussed, helpful and welcoming in every session. The atmosphere created among the participants was friendly and warm, so it felt really easy to speak openly. Even though every Friday I felt very lazy to join the sessions, that feeling just disappeared as soon as you welcomed everyone with a happy "hello". Now I realize that I am not alone, nor I am an eccentric person. Thank you again!'

'Thanks to the course, I conceptualize having my boundaries crossed in the same way as someone striking me physically. That means that I don't need to "keep gathering evidence" that it's not ok. It's no longer a debate or convincing the other person my boundary is crossed. I've learned to tune into the sensation I get when my boundary is being crossed and trust it the same way I would to a hand on my face.'
